An Industry First: Hunt: Showdown’s Port Sulphur Band Charts in the German Top 100

Last week the Port Sulphur Band became the first video game soundtrack in history to feature in the official Germany music charts, when their vinyl album The Devil’s Fee charted at #20 on the German Top 100 Album Mid-Week Charts, ahead of pop giants such as Lana Del Rey and Taylor Swift, finally landing at #61 for calendar week 32.

Crawling out from the Lawson Delta Bayou, Port Sulphur Band are a meta element of the Hunt: Showdown universe and is an in-house band made up entirely of Crytek devs. Starting as a way to publish additional Hunt lore, the band has since become a cult phenomenon with over 21 million streams on Spotify alone. The Devil’s Fee was Port Sulphur Band’s first physical release, and community enthusiasm rocketed the album directly onto the official charts.

Chris Green, Director of Music & Audio for Hunt: Showdown comments:

“We are all still shocked here at what we have managed to achieve, being the first band to emerge from the video game world and make the elusive transition into the popular music arena.  I would like to thank everyone who bought a copy of the vinyl and brought Port Sulphur Band into your home and into the charts.  What makes this an even more enormous feat is that the album sold out immediately – two printings!  All this is a first in the video game and music industry in Germany, and we’re incredibly proud of what the band has achieved. We’d like to first thank the fans for making this a reality as well as the incredible Black Screen Records for helping us produce and distribute the physical vinyls.  This is just the start of our band story and journey, I promise you there will be so much more to come.”

About Hunt: Showdown

Hunt: Showdown is a competitive first-person bounty hunting game that packs the thrill of survival games into a match-based format. Set in Louisiana in 1895, the game boasts a mixture of PvP and PvE elements that creates a uniquely tense experience. It's not just the monsters who are a threat—it's every Hunter on the map. In the classic game mode, a match of Hunt pits 12 players—playing solo or in teams of two or teams of three —against each other as they race to take out gruesome beasts for a Bounty they must collect and extract off of the map, while Hunt's Soul Survivor mode offers a shorter match for solo players to scavenge for weapons as they compete for a diminishing pool of Bounty. The higher the risk, the higher the reward–but a single mistake could cost you everything. Hunt is available now on Steam, Xbox and PlayStation. For more information, visit www.huntshowdown.com.
