Devil’s Trail Set Ablaze as Inferno is Unleashed on the Bayou in ‘Hunt: Showdown 1896’

Inferno Time of Day returns, the Hellborn wanders further than ever before, and the Fire Rifle ignite the mid-Event season

Today, Crytek unleashes the long-awaited Inferno in Hunt: Showdown 1896. Once again, the bayou is swallowed by flames spreading as far as the mountains of the Gulch, forcing players to rethink everything as the firestorm carves through the intricate landscapes. Alongside the much-anticipated return of this fan favourite Time of Day, even more fiery content is joining the fray right in the middle of the ongoing in-game Event, Devil’s Trail:

The Season of Flames

The unique “Inferno” Time of the Day sets all available maps ablaze, reducing visibility with thick smoke and raging fires. Wildfires block paths, collapse sightlines, and demand constant tactical adaptation.

As Inferno returns, so do new dangers and opportunities, including Hellborn, the terrifying roaming boss, now a potential encounter on every map.

  • Firefighter Supply appears when Inferno is active, offering Water Bottles, Ammo, Tool Boxes, and Tarot Cards at these distinct locations.
  • The Flame Rifle makes a blistering return, retuned and refurbished based on community feedback. It can be acquired at the Firefighter Supply for Pledge Marks.

The Heart of Lower DeSalle

With the Inferno comes a new face among Hunters: Lady Lewis.

Once known as Ruby Angeline, as much a fixture to the Lewis’ saloon as the saloon became to the town, she yearns to return Lower DeSalle to its former glory and so has earned herself a new name: Lady Lewis. Her favorite patron called Lewis’ “the heart of Lower DeSalle”, but that time is gone now as DeSalle became a birthplace for the worst kind of monsters, always returning after being killed. She had to kill the patron too, after he, now infected, tried to rip her throat out.

The Heart of Lower DeSalle DLC is available now on all platforms.

Event Points Boost

For players looking to catch up on the Battle Pass, this weekend is your chance. From 10:00 CEST, 17 April to 10:00 CEST, 20 April, Hunt: Showdown 1896 is running a Double Event Points Boost: double the event points scored in every mission.

The Trail is Calling

Devil’s Trail is in full swing—the perfect moment to step into Hunt: Showdown 1896 for new or veteran Hunters. Hidden Extraction Points, evolved scouting and tracking, the Firebreather monster, and the unique fury of the Inferno await the brave souls capable of walking through fire. Devil’s Trail and Inferno are live now on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, available until June 10th, 2026.

About Hunt: Showdown 1896

Hunt: Showdown 1896 is the new era of the competitive first-person bounty hunting game, packing the thrill of survival and the reward of profit into a horror match-based format. Set in Colorado and the Louisiana bayou in 1896, the game boasts a mixture of PvP and PvE elements that create a uniquely tense experience. It's not just the monsters who are a threat—it's every Hunter on the map. In the classic Bounty Hunt game mode, a match pits 12 players—playing solo or in teams of two or three—against each other as they race to take out gruesome creatures for a Bounty Token they must collect and extract from the map. Hunt's Soul Survivor mode offers a shorter match for solo players to scavenge for weapons as they compete for a diminishing pool of bounty. The higher the risk, the higher the reward—but a single mistake could cost you everything. Hunt: Showdown 1896 is out now on PC, PlayStation 5, and Series X|S.
